Hotel Review
Hotel Paseo, Palm Springs, USA
Opened in 2018, this glossy, new-build property is part of Marriott's Autograph Collection - a global brand that likes to tune into the local scene in an individual, soulful way. Here the tone is invitingly upbeat with a bright red 1955 Cadillac parked in the lobby and an Airstream Cruiser next to the pool. Vibrant contemporary art quickly engages the eye while complimentary bikes and yoga, plus shuffleboard and a putting green, sustain the sense that this is a place tailor-made for fun times. Guests who stay at Hotel Paseo know exactly what they like - a restorative deep tissue massage, a hit-the-spot Platinum margarita, a romantic dinner of wagyu burger and truffle frites as a duo sings California tunes - then a good night's rest in a stylish room with all mod cons.

Style & Character
Short-breakers, shoppers, art-lovers and spa fans will love it here. Most guests come for a couple of nights and the hotel is busiest at weekends. There are suites and connecting rooms for families. The zestful art in the lobby and public spaces ranges from illuminated roller-skates and a flying swimmer to colour-charged abstract paintings. Ask to see the companion catalogue.

Rooms
Classic rooms do their job nicely while Premier rooms include a balcony. If it's time to party, go for a Billiards Suite, complete with a billiards table and record deck. We loved sitting in the sun on a top floor balcony admiring the view over the city to the San Jacinto Mountains.

Food & Drink
There's an inviting choice of over 25 draft and bottled beers, plus intriguing cocktails like the peach-based Sandstone Martini and Coffee Toffee with rum and chocolate bitters. We loved the starter of dates wrapped in bacon and filled with goats cheese, followed by tomato and artichoke-crusted cod.
