WHAT WE LOVE...

Built by William Randolph Hearst for his mistress, actress Marion Davies, the Warwick has a long history for housing many luminaries including Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn, Jane Russell, Elvis, The Beatles, Elizabeth Taylor and James Dean. Plenty of historic features have been retained to exude an old world elegance, yet many modern comforts have been incorporated too. It has a fab location near Central Park and Midtown sights, and a choice of subway lines make exploration further afield a doddle. The comfortable guest rooms are spacious by New York standards, and feature simple, traditional, upmarket décor including antique-style furniture and marble bathrooms, with the décor of many suites displaying splashes of colour and individuality. Randolph's, the hotel's popular bar, restaurant and lounge, features an old-school club atmosphere.

Food & Drink

We loved the colourful murals, created by American illustrator Dean Cornwall in 1937, at Murals on 54. The grilled chicken paillard was tasty.

Murals on 54: main restaurant, Vietnamese cuisine. Dishes include seafood pho, shaken steak and papaya salad. Open daily for breakfast, Tue-Sat for dinner.
Randolph's Bar & Lounge: intimate lounge, serving drinks daily (5-11pm).
