WHAT WE LOVE...

A proper pub and a foodie destination, The Langford Inn is located on the edge of the Mendip Hills, an Area of Outstanding Beauty, where guests can enjoy boutique-style bedrooms and local produce with a field-to-fork ethos. The historic pub dates back to the 17th century and boasts heritage features including the original stone walls and large exposed beams as well as eclectic artwork and a pretty alfresco courtyard. Owned by Butcombe Pub and Inns with the local Brewery just down the road, the building has been thoughtfully restored with a modern vibe, creating an entirely welcoming countryside abode. With its close proximity to Bristol and its rural surrounds, it's well suited to foodies and city explorers, along with keen walkers and those looking for a quiet escape in a sleepy Somerset village.

Suited to foodies seeking out a destination pub and couples looking for a quiet countryside getaway, as well as walkers and cyclists looking to explore rural Somerset. We were won over by the bare wooden floors and exposed stone walls, fused with chic wood panelling in heritage hues.

The gorgeous courtyard stole the show with its many seating areas - stone alcoves, raised planters, tropical palms and festoon lighting.

You can't go wrong with the Butcombe Gold beer-battered fish, served with thick-cut chips and proper mushy peas. The ox cheek Wellington served with pressed onion, potato, braised leek and horseradish cream is a flavoursome combo - an updated take on the classic beef Wellington.
