An ideal hotel for couples and families to have an idyllic retreat with gourmet food set within pretty surroundings, from a signposted nature trail with fun facts to a whimsical walled garden. For those that enjoy outdoor games you'll have croquet, boules and outdoor chess to choose from, plus pitch-and-putt golf. There are many spots to relax with drink or book in hand in this country house-style hotel, with enviable views to look out on. The pretty town of Peebles is close by for a spot of shopping and to grab a coffee in a cute café, as well as exhilarating scenic walks along the banks of the River Tweed; you could also hire an e-bike locally.

Style & Character

Ideal for couples looking for a romantic base to explore the Scottish Borders. We loved the grand gilded ceiling with an ornate fresco depicting enchanting cherubs and clouds in the Sutherland Restaurant.

The Junior Suite is a larger room with a comfortable super king bed. There's also a complimentary night-time nip of whisky. The leaflet containing the history of Cringletie House in the bedroom is interesting and adds to the experience.

Food & Drink

The Chef's Grand Tasting Menu is an experience - dishes and wine pairings are introduced by the chef and sommelier with information on the ingredients' provenance. The perfectly poached Atlantic cod with creamy bacon scented peas, well-seasoned crushed potato and sensational salty Arenkha caviar was delicious.

The Sutherland Restaurant: 2 AA-Rosette restaurant. Seasonal menu, locally sourced produce. All-day menu, open daily. Five-course menu from £75.
