Hotel Review
Rokeby Manor, Invergarry, Scotland
Rokeby Manor is an early Victorian house dating from 1840 and retaining much of the character of a Highland country home. Built with local materials, it is located on the route to the Isle of Skye. The first tenant worked with Thomas Telford on the nearby Caledonian Canal, and in more modern times it has attracted a number of celebrities, including Burt Lancaster, during the filming of Local Hero, and renowned jazz violinist Stéphane Grappelli. It has smart, comfortable bedrooms and cosy, welcoming lounge and restaurant areas, and it's an ideal base for exploring the Great Glen. Fort William is nearby, as are a host of wooded walking trails and several majestic lochs.
