WHAT WE LOVE...

In a quiet part of the border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, and close to the famous Elizabethan walls, this handsome Georgian house feels tucked away from the town's bustle yet is within easy walking distance of restaurants and attractions. Interiors belie its classic Georgian looks with a startlingly bright and contemporary style of bold colours, shiny whites, statement mirrors and decorative objects. Owner Ann Macnab is extremely down-to-earth and welcoming with plenty of advice on what to see and where to eat. The bedrooms vary from large to compact but well-designed, and all have high-quality fittings and thoughtful extras. Throughout the day, help-yourself hot drinks and snacks are available.

Style & Character

The guest house will suit anyone who wants a convenient base, with a breezy style, quality touches and a personal welcome, from which to explore the borders (or as a stop-over). A highlight is the bright breakfast room with its glossy-white tables and Perspex chairs which makes for a punchy start to the day.

The large room with sofa and bath as well as shower is more comfortable if you're staying a few days. Bathrobes, bottled water and bowls of chocolates were an unexpected surprise.

Food & Drink

This is room-only accommodation but Ann is happy to make recommendations on dining options. The help-yourself coffee - with freshly ground beans - is a nice touch, as are the cereal bars and sweeties.
