Hotel Review
The Lifeboat Inn, Thornham, Norfolk
Dating back to the 16th-century, this two-storey, white-washed building was once a farm, and is said to have been a smugglers' inn too. It's tucked into a quiet lane on the edge of Thornham village, and is one of the few places along this stretch of coast with direct access onto the coastal footpath. Romantic and secluded, and with open fires, a wood-beamed bar, airy conservatory and spacious down-lit dining area, the public rooms are as much of a retreat as the 13 tranquil bedrooms, some with views over the marshes to the far-off sea beyond.
