WHAT WE LOVE...

Pubs with rooms don't come more adorable than this idyllic spot, nestled in the backstreets of a typical Norfolk village, close to the church and cricket pitch. The Rose & Crown is as popular with locals as with guests looking for an authentic welcome. A warren of rooms are linked by narrow passages which reveal cosy bars warmed by open fires and woodburners. Bedrooms are unstuffy in cool, seaside colours, with gleaming bathrooms, and the restaurant serves tasty pub classics as well as less traditional options. Children and dogs are well-catered for and this inn makes an excellent base for walkers, sailors, birdwatchers and golfers.

THE DETAILS

Style & Character

The Rose & Crown attracts a broad mix of people - from romantic couples to families looking for a reasonably-priced base. We love all the quirky detail. The mustard yellow ladies' toilets are decorated with framed pages from a 1950s Good Housekeeping Guide.

Baskets of Duplo, playing cards, books and colouring pencils are provided in the family rooms, which is a nice touch.

Food & Drink

We love their tapas dishes, including crispy halloumi, Dingley Dell pork belly and fire-roasted falafel, but our favourite dish is Braised beef shin Guinness suet pudding, with parsley root puree, salt baked beetroot and crispy kale.

The Rose & Crown: seasonal menus, hearty pub food, small plates, local produce, guest ales. Food served 12-8pm. Mains from £12.50.
