WHAT WE LOVE...

This modern hotel, an imposing wedge of steel and glass, is in the Eastern Docklands area of Amsterdam away from the historic canal belt in the centre. It has impeccable eco-friendly credentials, with lots of sustainability features. It's a tranquil place to stay, being on the IJ river and enjoying great views of the water. Its interior design reflects its Indonesian theme, with use of bamboo and wood carvings, an indoor tropical garden and a restaurant that merges Indonesian food with that of the West. There is also a rooftop cocktail bar to further enjoy the views, and the hotel has a good spa, gym and pool. There's good access to central Amsterdam when needed.
