WHAT WE LOVE

Overlooking the mews at Buckingham Palace, the Rubens at The Palace celebrates all things British. The classically adorned interiors are decorated in warm comforting shades of burgundy, walls are embellished with silks depicting the Household Cavalry and Trooping the Colour, and service is friendly and welcoming, with traditional British hospitality at its core. The dining offer reflects British culinary tastes, with a curry room serving Indian favourites, a fine dining restaurant offering modern British fare, and a bustling lounge where guests can enjoy traditional afternoon tea; at the bar, you'll find cocktails named after cherished British traditions and symbols (think Underground, The Guard and Wimbledon). It attracts international visitors seeking an all-round British experience in the heart of London's sight-seeing action.

Style & Character

The hotel suits international visitors after an all-round British experience, steps away from Buckingham Palace. We loved the 350 square-metre verdant Living Wall that carpets the side of the building. It's made up of 10,000 herbaceous plants.

Service & Facilities

Staff have clearly worked here for years - and you can tell they really enjoy it. There's a buzzing, convivial feel among staff that instantly puts you in a relaxed mood. Pooches are welcome, with bowls, beds and biscuits supplied.

Food & Drink

The hotel's fine dining restaurant is The English Grill, with its teal blue velvet chairs and comfy brown leather banquettes. We liked the Orkney king scallops, served with English chorizo and a creamy applewood smoked cheese hollandaise.

The English Grill: opulent fine dining, English produce. 2 AA Rosettes restaurant. Open daily for breakfast and dinner.
The Curry Room: intimate restaurant, Indian cuisine. Open Thu-Mon for dinner. 3-course meal from £75.
