Hotel Review
Fox & Anchor, Farringdon, London
On the edge of Smithfield Market, which has been a meat market for hundreds of years, the Fox and Anchor is a Grade II-listed inn and a great and less obvious choice for accommodation in central London. Whilst it retains the feel of a traditional pub, the six individually-designed elegant boutique bedrooms and suite upstairs ooze contemporary décor without forgetting the building's historic roots. Its City location means it's noticeably quieter at weekends due to the largely non-residential neighbourhood, and it is just a five-minute walk to Barbican and Farringdon tube stations. Hearty breakfasts and wholesome lunches and dinners can be enjoyed in the lovely Dickensian-style bar.
