Hotel Review
Hotel Lava Beach, Puerto del Carmen, Lanzarote
Lanzarote's youngest hotel still seems so new that you wonder why you can no longer smell the paint. The five-star Lava Beach adds to the Hibiscus Hotels' collection in Puerto del Carmen and is the highest-rated of the four, which are all in the island's main resort. It follows the Lanzarote template of whitewashed palm-fringed low-level development. There's much to love about a modern addition reassuringly offering more of the same. While the nearby beach, Playa de Matagorda, isn't volcanic, the hotel's gardens are. From the inviting swing chairs in the rooms to the external Balinese beds and sun loungers, the emphasis at Lava Beach is on relaxation.
