Hotel Review
Filario Hotel & Residences, Lezzeno, Lake Como
Sophisticated and stylish, Filario was one of the lake's very first boutique design hotels. It exudes a young vibe, with clean lines and huge windows seemingly merging inside and out. Soft earthy tones of grey, beige and brown echo the colours of the surrounding landscape, while glass and stone feature heavily. With only thirteen rooms, it has a small, intimate feel, making it perfect for couples seeking a romantic break, although there are also twenty self-catering apartments in the adjacent building that are ideal for families. There's a superb restaurant serving excellent fish dishes, and plenty to keep guests busy, including a lovely infinity pool, a beach club, and kayak and paddle board rental.

Style & Character
Perfect for young couples seeking a cool and sophisticated boutique bolthole. That said, the adjacent self-catering apartments are popular with families. We love the subtle echoes to lake history: Como was once a major producer of silk - 'Filario' is a combination of the words 'filo' (thread) and 'lario' (Como).

The breezy private cabanas lining the beach have big comfortable beds facing the sea. They're perfect for some much-needed shade and offer plenty of privacy too.

The chef's creative and innovative dishes echo his southern Italian roots, bringing a touch of the Mediterranean to the lake. The food is excellent. Sit back on the lakeside terrace and savour homemade ravioli with duck liver, nasturtiums and grapefruit.
