The Wilder townhouse is a boutique hotel set in a beautiful red brick Victorian building which has been lovingly restored. Many of the rooms have original features like high ceilings and sash windows, and the furnishings, artwork and objects are tasteful yet playful; for example there are fun quotes in the room and other places in the hotel, and every detail from the furnishings to how food and drink is served have all been carefully thought out. Breakfast is served on tiered stands like afternoon tea, and there's a well-researched gin and tea menu in the bar. There's a small (free) car park and outdoor tables and chairs in a small garden area out front.
Trees and beautiful buildings surround the area, as well as on the walk to the city.
It's a 15-minute walk to the bustle of Grafton Street and you'll pass Iveagh Gardens and St Stephen's Green en route.
By plane: direct flights to Dublin from Manchester and Birmingham (1 hour), and London (1 hour 15 minutes). It's a 30-minute drive to the hotel. Free parking on-site. skyscanner.net
Someone who likes the intimacy of a boutique hotel, wants to be a little away from the buzz of the city centre and appreciates good design will love it here. Design features include colourful wallpaper placed in wooden panels on exposed brick walls and unique objects in rooms.
We loved that the hotel has a small free car park (first come, first served) and the bar and lounge are both residents only.

The spacious and bright suite has a separate sitting room area and a small decorative fireplace. Our room had a huge built-in shelving unit in the wall, ideal for accessing all the things you need and use during a trip.

We loved the breakfast - a colourful central display in the conservatory. Part of the breakfast is served on tiered trays like afternoon tea, with healthy smoothies and yoghurt, baked goodies and breads all on different levels.
The Garden Room: daily breakfast buffet and hot food cooked to order. Mon-Fri 7-10am, Sat-Sun 8-11am.
The Gin & Tea Rooms: cosy lounge, serving afternoon tea, light bites and craft gins. Dishes include cheese, charcuterie and soup of the day. Open daily, 12-10pm.
