Hotel Review
Hotel AMO by Amano, Berlin, Germany
AMANO Group likes to provide travellers with reasonably priced rooms that feel a cut above. The formula works - the brand has hotels and apartments at eight locations in Berlin, and another in London's Covent Garden. Hotel AMO is one of its smaller properties, set amid the energetic, graffiti-splattered streets of Mitte and billed - correctly - as a 'cosy yet stylish retreat'. While the rooms may be compact, they have a polished feel enhanced by a bright, no nonsense bathroom. The JOSEPH restaurant offers colourful eastern Mediterranean cuisine to a backing track of Israeli pop. Most guests stay two or three nights and include many business travellers.

Food & Drink
In summer, the restaurant expands into the hotel courtyard which has a bar, trailing plants and decorative stonework. We recommend the perfectly made 'Tommy's Margarita' followed by a plate of fish and chips Tel Aviv-style. Then another margarita, because Berlin's like that.
Joseph Restaurant: casual restaurant, Israeli cuisine. Open daily, from 6pm. Mains from €16.50.
