WHAT WE LOVE...
How anyone managed to squeeze a 98-room hotel into a tiny gap site beside Waverley Station is a mystery; producing something so modern but still sympathetic to its surroundings is nothing short of a miracle. This attractive sandstone and glass tower reflects the Old Town style, while the interiors are Scandaweigia comes to Old Reekie with acres of window and oak and high-end, often custom-made contemporary furnishings throughout. From the downright sexy, sleekly functional bedrooms to the fabulous eyrie of a rooftop bar/lounge, this is design chosen by someone who knows what's desirable and what works, better than most. The attention to detail, such as the freshly roasted coffee and milk frothers in the bedrooms, or the complimentary champagne on arrival, is a nice touch.

Zoom straight from the door to the seventh floor reception and on to the Nor'loft terrace, with the city unrolling at your feet.
The hotel is opposite Edinburgh Waverley station and other attractions like Camera Obscura and World of Illusions, Edinburgh Castle and the National Museum of Scotland.
By car: from Glasgow around 1 hour, from Newcastle around 2 hours 40 minutes and from Manchester just over 4 hours. Parking can be arranged at Waverley station.

The elegantly effective sliding oak shutters are both beautiful and useful - Victorian art and design critic John Ruskin would approve. We love the 'Vista' rooms with their fanatastic views of the city.
