WHAT WE LOVE...

21212 provides a seamlessly indulgent experience in a quietly leafy yet central eastern New Town location. The four rooms tucked away up the elegant curving staircase of this classic Georgian townhouse are no afterthought, bringing the same playfully elegant style, consideration and wit Paul Kitching brings to the cooking in his restaurant. More like small suites than bedrooms, there are big, comfortable beds and indulgent bathrooms, comfy seating from which to consider the view and little treats to make you feel welcome. Of course, you have probably come here for a memorably delicious lunch or dinner, but the luxurious breakfast is no let-down either, and you're unlikely to miss the mini-bar when there's hot and cold drinks on demand.

Dedicated (and potential) food lovers looking for more than just a room for the night should stay here. Eat breakfast in a luxurious pod watched over by a Caravaggio.

Rooms

Front-facing rooms have views across the city, but those overlooking the long garden with Calton Hill beyond feel like they glimpse a secret Eden. The decanter of sloe gin waiting in the bedroom is just the thing to warm up a rainy day.

Bedrooms
Facilities include: dedicated lounge area, ensuite bathroom, luxury toiletries, bathrobes, smart TV, free Wi-Fi, bluetooth speaker, tea and coffee facilities

Food & Drink

This is a restaurant with a sense of humour, where the signature pre-desert milk flows from a jug shaped like a cow. Kitching is a master of the unexpected, the sum of his 'beef & cabbage horseradish & vanilla' unimaginably more than those modest parts might imply.

21212: four AA Rosettes, Michelin star 2010-2019. Elegant, sumptuous, fine dining, Scottish food with a twist. Open for lunch and dinner Tuesday-Saturday (breakfast everyday for guests). Weekly changing menu - 3 courses from £50, 5 courses from £85.
