WHAT WE LOVE...

Live like a Regency prince in this elegantly decorated Georgian townhouse near Kemptown. Set on the busy Upper Rock Gardens, it's an easy five-minute stroll from buzzy St James's Street, the seafront and the beach, but inside is an oasis of calm. Each of the four rooms are named after the Prince Regent's entourage, including various mistresses and wives like Fitzherbert, Villiers and Brunswick. And while not extravagant with space, they are all beautifully decorated and filled with antiques and plush soft furnishings. The B&B tends to attracts the more genteel Brighton visitor, so while you won't get woken up by drunk revellers at 3am, you might by those heading out for an early morning stroll along the prom.

THE DETAILS

Location

It's a slightly off-beat location - but still easy to walk to most if Brighton's main attractions.

No. 27 is at the edge of Kemptown, one of Brighton's most popular seafront areas, centred around the bars, antique shops and cafes of St. James's Street. The beach is a five-minute walk away, while the city centre and The Lanes can be reached in 10-15 minutes.
By car: Brighton is roughly 2 hours' drive from London. There is no car parking on site, but guests can park on the streets at nearby Queens Park, or the underground pay and display car park on the High Street in Kemptown.
By train: Brighton train station is a 20-minute walk away and just over five minutes in a taxi. There are regular trains from various London stations, as well as stops along the south coast. thetrainline.com

Style & Character

No. 27 attracts a loyal, more mature clientele who tend to appreciate its style and calm atmosphere. We love the attention to detail; the Viennese whirls in a glass dome, the herbal tea selection and the peace and quiet.

Service & Facilities

We love owner Diego's baking skills. His home-baked Madeleines are magnificent.

Rooms

The property has a real serenity to it, with plush rooms and nice little touches like freshly baked Viennese whirls and complimentary sherry. Brunswick, which is hidden away at the top of the house, is much quieter, and with its table overlooking the street feels like a secret writing den.
