Step back in time and take a wooded river walk to the 13th-century thatched village of North Bovey, one of the Moor's most charming spots.
Bovey Castle is on a 275 acres estate, surrounded by woodland inside Dartmoor National Park. The River Bovey runs through the hotel's 18-hole golf course and picturesque North Bovey and Moretonhampstead are both nearby.
By car: The hotel is 35 mins from Exeter, 2 hours from Bristol and around 4 hours from London. Free parking is available at the hotel
By train: London Paddington to Exeter St David's takes around 2 hours 30 mins. The hotel is a 40-minute taxi ride from the station. thetrainline.com

Bovey Castle offers the perfect escape for both thrill seekers and adventurers of all ages and genders. Beautiful period features along with a generous dose of glamour had us swooning - huge stone fireplaces, ornate plastered ceilings, oak panelling and mullion windows.
Service & Facilities
A stay wouldn't be complete without taking a nostalgic trip in a Shire horse-drawn covered carriage to the picturesque village of North Bovey. Four-legged friends are welcomed with a bed, bowl, toy and chew, and are allowed in all of the bedrooms. There's even a 'Pooch Parlour', including a shower, shampoo, hairdryer, towels and hair combs.

The afternoon tea menu will leave you fully satisfied - freshly baked scones, dainty sandwiches, homemade cakes and pastries, served alongside fine teas in china cups. Simply delicious! Don't miss the seven-course tasting menu - the estate roasted venison, red leaves and kisses of chutney sauce really stood out.
Smith's Brasserie: AA Rosette, informal dining, British classics, European dishes, small plates, burgers, steaks. Open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mains from £18.
