Hotel Review
Elysium, Paphos, Cyprus
This five-star hotel doesn't have the panache of the island's new ultra-luxe hotels but it does offer comfortable stylish rooms in a palatial building, attentive service, an excellent spa, great children's facilities, beautiful gardens and a lovely setting on a picturesque rugged coastline. The architecture has been influenced by the Byzantine era so expect grand columns and arches, heavy dark-wood doors, ornate goddess statues, pretty fountains and mosaics and local honey-coloured stone. A huge lagoon-style pool with a central island and sun loungers provides a dramatic centrepiece, plus you're right next door to the UNESCO Tomb of the Kings and close to the Akamas national park and picturesque Paphos harbour, with its fabulous mosaics in the Archeological Park.
