Hotel Review
Lords of the Manor, Upper Slaughter, Cotswolds
Set in a 17th-century manor house on the edge of an exquisite Cotswold village near Cheltenham, Lords of the Manor is an appealingly traditional country house hotel. This is a place of crackling fires, long lawns, antiques and cosy nooks. The hotel glories in excellent food (particularly at The Atrium restaurant), impeccable old-school service and a magnificent garden. Prices here are slightly steep, even for the Cotswolds - guests tend to be a moneyed crew of city weekenders or weekday visitors on a treat of a break. They come to enjoy classic comfort and peace and quiet, although the lack of a spa might seem an oversight for a venue of this quality.
