WHAT WE LOVE...

If you want the countryside and seclusion but camping isn't for you, book a plush room in this idyllic island retreat. Perfect for couples wanting together time, with a backdrop of cherry trees and the river Thames, or solo travellers who revel in restorative beauty treatments, with a floating spa and plenty of welcoming rooms to relax in and read. Families will benefit from seven acres of land for children to roam, as well as entertaining resident chickens who run freely in the grounds. The restaurant has fantastic views and food, and you can even watch the chefs' culinary creations through the open kitchen. The historic Wedgewood Suite is unique, but all the rooms offer modern furnishings infused with history and flair.

Rooms

The Wedgewood Suite is exceptional: a circular Grade I-listed room; oak panelled walls meet an iconic Wedgwood blue and white plasterwork motif ceiling. If you sit in bed in the light-filled Wedgewood Suite, you still have incredible views of the Thames.

Facilities include: ensuite bathroom with toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, tea and coffee facilities, flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi

Food & Drink

We loved the rich, unctuous braised ox cheek, served with creamy smooth mash, greens and a glistening meaty jus. The salmon, which is cold smoked on the estate, over star anise, tea, peppercorns, juniper berries, fennel and citrus skins, makes a stunning starter.

Monkey Island Brasserie: elegant main dining room with terrace. Open daily, all-day menu and afernoon tea.
