WHAT WE LOVE...

Stepping distance from the Grand Place, the capital's big and perpetually busy central showpiece, Le Dixsèptieme is discreetly tucked away, and offers a quiet and elegant refuge. Its low-key frontage gives no clue to the size of the hotel, a mix of 17th-century grandeur at the front and skilfully blended modern extensions tucked behind. The latter also hides a courtyard garden. Choose between traditional bedrooms and suites with original features of wood-panelling and carved plasterwork, or sleeker bedrooms with a contemporary lightness. Public rooms, in the older part, have a gentle refinement that typifies the atmosphere and service throughout the hotel. It's breakfast only but a generous spread, and there's a discreet bar service in the lounge for pre- or after-dinner drinks.

Style & Character

This hotel is ideal for people who want to be in the centre of the city, amongst the buzz and the main sights, but with a quiet retreat to which to return. We love the feeling of calm and tranquillity as soon as you step off the pavement and slip behind the discreetly signed door.

The bar is very discreet - tucked behind a door by reception - and staff simply come and find you in one of the two lounges or garden.

Rooms

The traditional rooms in the old part often have the more unusual features, such as a fireplace or a fresco, while the more modern rooms have easier access to the courtyard garden. The monogrammed bedlinen and bathrobes just ooze elegance and old-world luxury.
