Hotel Review
Shangri-La, Sydney, Australia
Perched above a historic part of the city, this vast high-rise is best known for its almost aerial views of Sydney Harbour from the restaurant and bar on level 36. In fact, Blu Bar is a destination in itself, especially for city workers heading for after-work drinks. All the 564 rooms feature harbour views (some better than others), window seats from which to admire them, and luxurious bathrooms. Health-conscious folk are catered for with a gym, futuristic indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Inspired by ancient Chinese healing, CHI Spa, cocooned in the centre of the hotel, offers a range of pampering treatments. The hotel is within walking distance of top Sydney spots Circular Quay, Darling Harbour and The Rocks.

Blu Bar on level 36 makes a fabulous amaretto sour - the perfect accompaniment to that view. Our favourite dish at dinner is the steamed Murray Cod, spanner crab and kombu. Simple and delicious.
