WHAT WE LOVE...

Set on a beautiful 16th century estate centred around an impeccably restored farmhouse and surrounded by wonderful rolling countryside as well as the picturesque town of Capdepera, crowned by its castle. The cuisine couldn't be better: its two restaurants serving gourmet Mallorcan fare are helmed by Michelin-starred chef Andreu Genestra. There's a sun terrace with a splendid pool and free bikes to borrow, and you can walk to the nearest beach in 20 minutes on a Bronze Age path. Guest rooms are suitably sumptuous and public areas very comfortable. There are numerous historic features around the property, such as the traditional stone exterior and pig hooks still in place. There are also a chapel, an ancient sundial and caves to discover.

Food & Drink

We're impressed that such outstanding cuisine is available at an hotel in such a remote spot. The Menorcan mussels in a rich cava, orange and citronella sauce at Bistro Senzil are a good example of the unusual, delicious tastes Genestra creates. With a tantalising lemon aroma and taste, it's subtly different and the lemon not too overpowering.

Andreu Genestra: Michelin-starred dining, Andreu Genestra's cuisine blends Mediterranean ingredients with sophisticated techniques. Open daily. Tasting menu from €105.
Senzill Bistro: Light, flavoursome cuisine in a laidback atmosphere. Open daily.
